Brillinat Redproduces true red blooms that create a regal display against thedeep green foliage. The Hibiscus is commonly referred to as a Tropical Hibiscus or Queen of the Tropics. This beauty is actually a tender perennial shrub in frost-free zones. This eye catcher produces shiny green leaves and large, showy blooms up to 6 and 7! With vibrant colored blooms and exceptional heat tolerance, this is a great summer choice for containers and landscape.

Use: This plant is used for an ornamental purpose. The plant is also medicinally used by many pharmaceutical & cosmetic companies. In Indonesia the flowers are used to make juice. Chinese eat this flower by making pickle. Jamaicans use this flower in herbal tea as it contains many minerals and vitamins, dried hibiscus is edible, and it is often a delicacy in Mexico.

Height:The plants can grow to 15 feet tall in frost-free areas.

Difficulty to grow:Easy to grow

Care: Pruning will keep your plants looking healthy and stimulate blooms. Prune once per season, in the fall, although pruning can be done successfully in the spring if necessary. This means that they should be slightly root bound in the pot and when you do decide to re-pot, give the hibiscus only a little bit more room. Always make sure that your growing hibiscus plant has excellent drainage.

Sunlight:Full Sun to Partial Shade

Soil:Loamy but not too heavy soil. The soil should be coarse rather than fine.


Fertilizer:For prolific flowering, hibiscus must have regular feeding every week during the growth period. Water soluble formulas can be used with every watering. Choose a fertilizer with a low phosphorous value.
